A Glimpse of Could-Be Gone

moons on the wane break hearts
while those that wax bring nothing
but hope

we grow larger each step
in surf too warm, in light too bright
to be real

footsteps in relief
well before washing away

fly different patterns than
those assembled in trio where
the sense of deferral
is greater

Form precedes light
yet shadows proceed

From here by and
large I am microscopic

Silence breaks as if through prisms
to show sound’s color

The actual unravels
as a hand and a story unfolds

It says that the good magician conceals
her reveal
