Canopy Five

I've been practicing a lot of bebop lately
playing heads and I'm running riffs and I
notice the birds in the trees 'round my way 
are trilling and stretching out more on their chorus

Everything Dances

you know 
that stutter-step
you do when walking toward one another
on a lane wide enough
only for one

you step left 
and she steps right so you step
right and she's already stepped left, and
so you dance until...

I did that today
with a pigeon 
on a NYC sidewalk,
an initial tango as so described
...then the pigeon flew one foot up and
one foot ahead as I advanced
to politely resolve the issue
