I don’t aspire so much as I dream
about life once lived and twice when wonderful
sparks spirited us away; just a loll, a roll across water
on our backs and bellies sliding, free-wheeling and side-winding.

Pressed for time
all the time
it seemed.

Eternal weighs us from too far off, unfulfilled not a good place to fall, these tow-away zones
are paved to hurt, no shade here or there nor
anywhere for that matter.

What will be befitting your final embellishment?
Adjustable tonal flora becomes you, as you fade away
and become it.

It’s only rock ‘n’ roll –

Alone at night I sip tea spiced with bergamot
under crisp cold stars and watch small planes overhead
strobe tail-lights and wings, on to steady red then off
to the past that comes readily as an echo
soars octaves in free-form under the dome
of souls in free flight under streetlight like soft snow
it’s the last hurrah: it’s the first hush.

So many little planes.

Freezes Right Prior To Burning

The night fills with different patterns,
strange constellations – certainly not mine.

Whose sky is this?

Breezes, sharp zephyrs in trees
and sprites on-hand blow hardest,
then fade, then die.

Too many times,
but once is too many

And lights
go out.

In the firmament
and across the way,
chariots where once there were cradles.

Such a strange sky.

All it takes
is a line or two
especially if it bounces

to get a poem
moving along
