uh – huh, whatever you say. —–Chagall
A writer needs a point of reference that’s external to their own point of view. Otherwise the writer runs the risk of self-delusion. One doesn’t grow by being insular in their approach to life. Who taught you to think that way? It’s bullshit.
🙂 I’m just saying. Thank you for liking and for commenting. —–Chagall
besides, I’m not really sure this post is about writing at all. BTW, why do you have a blog then? Why not just scribble into a marble composition notebook and tuck it away for a rainy day? —–Chagall
writing screams to be read. otherwise it’s just a note to self, a masturbatory gesture.
I think I would tweak your comment ever so slightly:
Writers write for themselves
purely for validation

sorry if my reply
was insulting
that was not my intention

I was being mischievously chiding
and curious if you would be prompted
to write for another.
I took away zero malice and insult
from your words – instead, was wholly refreshed
by one of the more healthy exchanges I’ve had
in the boundaries of this comment space,
an arena of sorts if you consider its shape and size,
albeit one that expands and moves to accommodate
the match within.
It was obvious to me that you were speaking to the idea
and not necessarily the poet. This was healthy. Thank you.
My first flippant reaction was to “writers write for themselves”
and I believe that is a loaded catchphrase for wanna-be bohemians
who believe they are somehow the self to which they refer.

I most likely suck
I most likely don’t have a clue
~
but I’m okay
with that
imagine it’s from a poet to herself, speaking of herself in 2nd person plural – a bit in need of shrinkage, if you will – works a little differently, no? Could be more self-referring, rather than outward facing. A piece about self-doubt and the conspiratorial voices within our own heads

P.S. I consider you unsucky and clued-in, for what it’s worth 🙂

Loved this – and the exchange that followed after. Acey-brill 😉
Thank you, TearDrops. I hope that Geo Sans enjoyed it as well. —–Chagall

part of the dialogue
within ourselves
includes others
that share and care
An exchange of quips
at twenty paces
then ten, now five
careful not to pass
to talk
to the others back
I thoroughly enjoyed the comment chain 🙂 And the original poem. Of a truth if ever there was one!
Thank you Celestine. This post was an unusual but good ride. —–Chagall
Keep calm and keep on writing. No need for approval. If they don’t like it, their lost.
That is a sound sentiment. I believe you are correct, even to things not related to writing, maybe those especially. —–Chagall
