I’ve done that unconsciously over the years…. just realized it.
Interesting. I do it consciously and with intent 🙂 Did you estrange folks you wanted to or unintentionally distanced those you wanted to hold close?
Hard to explain here. It was just one “situation”…. One day I realized that this person was no longer my muse, that the poems were no longer coming. It was a mutual thing, in retrospect.
And yet there are times when the door becomes ajar again….but too painful to go there.
It is very difficult at times to do an about-face with respect to certain people and life events. I am a proponent for going through those doors or gently nudging them back shut. If I lock them, I keep a key under the mat. And sometimes there’s a window one can peek through without fully entering. Apologies for waxing metaphorically.
I agree, and also like the metaphor. See:

Both poems are very strong and aligned to the metaphor. Indeed, may the circle never close.
Yes! 🙂
Hello Someone – apologies, but I do not approve comments coming from an anonymous source. Someone can be anyone.
Perhaps stop playing around with your Gravatar and simply play it straight-up. FWIW.
Understood.
So relatable.
