Beautifully written. Reminds me a tad of “I Am A Rock” by Simon & Garfunkel. 🙂
Thank you, Lucy. Your comment prompted me to read S&G’s lyrics for the tune. Though I have listened to the song many times, I never grasped the words. Other than the reference to the rock, I think their words are more about one who has known love and lost it, and now is living alone, a rock – an island – in that sense. Too many thoughts are interceding there in the lyrics. Son Under Sun is about mindless bliss – static and dynamic. The “I” in the S&G tune is a step away from either killing themselves, becoming a great artist, or achieving Zen. But certainly I can see the resemblance. Maybe more so I hear the similarity in the rhythm of the respective lines —CC
