Stars are formed in clouds
of gas and dust, nebulae
nuclear at core
The eddies mist cold
lavender melts under snow
bleeds purple on white
Stars provide enough
energy brightly for years
the exact lifetime

I’m really going to
make this one rhyme,
sort through words’
dirt and grime
for the sheer sake of
poetic petty crime,
in meter, en pointe
with a squirt of lemon, a
bit o’ lime
hey
did you know
in my prime
I was a mime?
before that
an enzyme
let’s catch up,
maybe next time…

My tone implied the detail
she needn’t know

I wish I was
a wisp of wisteria
winding to entwine
once wound we would
while away the day
I twine clockwise,
…you?

I cannot protect you from it forever, but I can shield you from it, at least for this short while

I can see the marks left by her lips
on the glass of the picture frame
where she kisses
each night
good night
his forehead

You know who ruins the world?
I’ll tell you who ruins the world…
adults
fucking adults
ruin the world

My thought wafts in the smoke, a tiny dolphin behind aquarium glass We exchange a smile before she turns, swims away cc: CC '23
I see clearly in the glass before me, birds in flight behind me and autumn leaves criss-crossing windy rat-a-tat flutter of windows shades' slats in silhouette cc: CC '23
She spoke in well-constructed phrases, semicolons, commas, all silken nakedness under her camisole, her parted mouth a perfected ellipsis, the race to her heart - a dash. cc: CC '23 original pub. 8/18/2013
