A Girl And The Balloon

She said it’s just a snowdrop anemone
a phantasm that I use to transform
materialize in a split-second wink of an eye
I steal kisses, beware!
I am peppermint patty in a fun-house light
pernicious and witty and bright and I pity
any lassie who isn’t me tonight
I am ten years old
again in a tent that I pitched at my uncle’s
one summer night incredibly long ago
ice and flame, the stars
beckoned throughout the night
I needed to see the stars all night
so I left the mesh-flap open
to let in light from so far long away ago
on warm local winds that carried the voice of cicadas
I haven’t slept since in awe of the world
once I’d slept on the ground in the beautiful light of stars
I now allow myself to float airily up
without inhibition nor gravity
intercedes
hoping
our
fall
is
a
small
one

You Were Beside Yourself

Comatose except perhaps in trances
I’m obliged to amble – a somnambulist I am
the wisp’s own will, a fleeting glimpse

As a flitter upon a cheek’s a lash
the softest breeze that wind can muster
flutters by

I’m lost in your shallow breathing
in a warm cocoon spun of chestnut tendril
sweet oily aromatique

It takes but a moment to finally cease
I wait just a beat, then you’ll know

I continue to search for soft wind
to blow the gentler spirals that were once
aloft above metropolis, pinwheels of fallen dreams
so many ticks on the tape ago, confetti
don’t rain on her parade though it pours on mine
and she and I have no umbrella, just tiny Chinese
parasols we grip between our teeth
to shelter our hearts from the storms approaching,
eddies, torrents, and twisters, so difficult
near impossible, to steal a kiss this way.

In A Moment’s Notice

Autumn still conveyed my vibrant colors
until I realized it really wasn’t youth at all.

Hats off to whomever
tuned the blend
got my toes tapping
heart pumps
races up my leg
like a ruby lip
smooth ride
tension sprung
unbound gypsies
how we release
watch me twirl
my bandanna is now
caught fire

I’m finding more
guitar picks
laying lying around
these days

I’m feeling
more nimble
then and than
stars

We, I believe
are our own
answers

Swear
on a pinky
ring

More in
a haze
these days

Amazing these
swifty
autumn ways

God, How I Want You

Any two people
anytime
reflect the face
of each other

a patch of land at sea
under starlight
is where I embrace you

we kiss to the lap
of warm waves

a timeless moon-blue
velvet moire overhead
opens to the expanse
of all existence

a single moment
an eternal glimpse

The Time Traveler

She whispers
It’s you from long ago
And indeed I feel younger, more vibrant

As I run soft kisses along her neck
I ask her
How will I be?

You Sir, Win A Prize For The Lady

I see trails, no light incites them
across weary eyes’ dull cones
the aftermath of her once, seen now gone
a fragrant sight, a dulcet taste
a sonorous breath, avalanches of undisturbed
moments froze tick steadily, the incessant sound
of no breathing, pulses of heartache
always forever on never an offbeat
splendor in the sere grass, shoes kicked off
dust kicked up, hopes kicked in dashed Kewpie’s knocked down
on ancient boardwalks calliopes beckon the lights
incite the trails that streak my vision
comet extinction, another time around

Figure And Ground

With certainty I sense what’s timeless
so therefore I am, aren’t I?

It’s a light that shines forever,
a tone with no break for interval.

It’s the moment of you, the thought of you,
the underbelly of you upon my shoulders.

Within that light play fine shadows, disturbed
branches windblown in time.

The doppler of the carousel horses rise then fall
round and rise then fall again.

It is this mere one lifetime with you,
the incessant farewell of moments.

At any time you’ll be here.
At any time you’ll be gone.

Uncertainty senses this timeless
alone, aloft with no tether.
