I’m lazy tonight yet I want,
needy for quiet lethargy,
please love and allow me
to rest my head right here –
the scented nearness of you
is my universe, a place I yearn
incessantly.

What if I’m not awake
and I rise,
assume an ascending
tone, float readily
airily up? I’m sure
at the ceiling I’d
bob just a bit before
finding the way through
to open sky past clouds,
azure tints cotton white,
cold pockets give way
to hot rays of sun,
where I’d look down
over forked rivers to find
me. Say, what a fine life
it’s been!

Yes, you’re right
I’ve been lazy of late
Of course there should be wonder!

A day so beautiful
I find even the squirrels
delightful.

Indefinitely is how
I’d describe
just how long
I’ll be taking it easy.
Not a care
in the world.
Nothing but time
sugar-water
jolting
cold and sweet.
Bubble
effervescent
so bracing.
I will go to bed late
but get up early
and simply enjoy
my life.

I will hold the excitement
I feel for this day
despite the naysayers
I am bound to encounter
as I wind through
the course of hours.

a fresh day to age and die
