Figure And Ground

With certainty I sense what’s timeless
so therefore I am, aren’t I?

It’s a light that shines forever,
a tone with no break for interval.

It’s the moment of you, the thought of you,
the underbelly of you upon my shoulders.

Within that light play fine shadows, disturbed
branches windblown in time.

The doppler of the carousel horses rise then fall
round and rise then fall again.

It is this mere one lifetime with you,
the incessant farewell of moments.

At any time you’ll be here.
At any time you’ll be gone.

Uncertainty senses this timeless
alone, aloft with no tether.

Fatigue slows
the inner voice
till there’s nothing

Outside In (Cued But Cute)

I knew you would say that.
Don’t believe me? Look!
I wrote this down in advance –
your words exactly, no?
You’re predictable in that way.
I watch you here from this open field,
you there in your seething cage,
but I will only wait so long.

It’s Around Here Somewhere

The mirror clearly said msispilos
so I took it and smashed it repeatedly,
vehemently before shocked onlookers
until all I had left was a single splinter
of the handle in my hand.

And that – as they say – is that.

Disturbed

Once in a shadow I rose
to greet an inquisitive sun,
yawned and stretched a while
to bask in its hot-white heat
before settling back down
to darkness.

The Sighting

Did you see that?
It just flew by –
I’m pretty sure
it was life!

Ode For Odette

chagall-backdrop4.jpg

You would have liked this morning
with the dancing trees amid cool breezes
blowing salty air.

You’d have liked the azure blues
sung by the sky, pink-tinged and vast
under the sunlit dome.

Where you are I want to be
a million times smaller than now,
simple fragrant mist that once was

Be Aware

chagall-backdrop4.jpg

Quiet just listen
you’ll hear it

The stillness you now
rise above is the place
to which you must return

When you’re there
look up, see that face
peering down, it’s you

It’s alright to wave
hale hearty a greeting,
hardly a moment’s gone by

Ponder, go deep, let yourself fall
to arrive at the other side

I Need A Moment

chagall-backdrop4.jpg

Collapsing, ever-folding
within me to a point
that explodes, infinite
lights the wisdom surrounds
without me endless consonant
tone, the frequency
of life, a hush no longer
stillborn, dilating
full prism color deep space
skies black oil universe swimming
and I am grinning across the breadth
expanse from ear to shining seas
of the oldest stars that hover
so wise, beautiful when they cry
the carbon is much sweeter that way
and makes the eternal you, man.

Timeless

It’s Saturday morning,
I find within my mind
that which allows it
to never slip away.
