Ponder Some

Like Annie Dillard
I’ve learned to be
still enough so even
birds ignore me, they
settle so close oblivious
to my presence, the more
of this the better I think
– the great divide gone just like that.

there certainly is a food chain.

This then is essentially done,
I just need now to go and do it.

To Bring You Up To Date

chagall backdrop

I was running on all cylinders, excited about life
and prospects, then I thought about the situation
perhaps a bit too much, the bottom fell out and I
lost all enthusiasm, found myself jumping from one
item to another, to find something to stick, to assert
itself as worth doing, worth living for, something compelling,
impelling, organic and all-consuming, energy about, throughout
and within, a lever to miracles, something essentially me,
and that’s where you came in.

From Me To You?

chagall backdrop

The words will need to be perfect this time;
they tell me now there’s no room for error
or remorse.  Calibrate all dials steady
to measure the distance between two hearts,
tolerance at zero, infinity
or somewhere in between.  Apply precise
tone, gesture, histrionics on request,
build a bridge, bridge the gap, gap the spark, spark
to light the pathway with strong intention
to meld into darkness at the far end
where there’s another in wait – so they say –
but you can never be certain these days.

Haiku For Parallax

My mind is empty
they tell me that’s a good thing
the whole world over.

Stretch Goal

chagall backdrop
If I stretch out long,
first flex, then point,
extend tendons, brush
against you, by chance
would you do the same?

My figure fits
your ground perfectly,
soft sanded curves,
mortise to tenon,
tongue ‘n’ groove.
